Technology Update

All students (PK-12) will be required to have a device in school AND at home for virtual learning.  Due to the national pandemic, the demand for these devices is high, and shipments to accomplish our 1:1 goals are not expected to arrive until sometime in the later Fall. We have already received a higher level of interest in devices than we currently have available and determined that we will not be able to meet the demands of all learners until supplies arrive.

Until our shipment of new chromebooks arrive, we request that only families with NO access to a home device for student use request a device early.  If families have already borrowed a Medway device (from last spring) or have a personal device for students to utilize between home and school - the devices need to be brought back and forth - please allow your child to utilize this device at home and at school until we can meet the needs of all learners.

For families who DO NOT have the necessary technology for students to use at home, please complete the 20-21 Device Request Form. If you have already completed this form, please do not complete again. A device will be prepared for pickup based on the following schedule.  Device pickup is located at the Middle School, Door 8, IT Office, between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the dates delineated below.  Please use the lowest grade level for all of your children when choosing a pickup date. Devices will be ready as follows:

Every Student in 7th and 8th grade is encouraged to pick up their new device starting September 9th 8:00 am to September 15th. Students who borrowed a device in the spring must return the borrowed unit in exchange for a new device. The returned units will be utilized for other grade levels and their immediate return will help our efforts to meet the needs of all learners.  Students in grades 5 and 6 who have requested a device can pick up their device beginning Friday, September 11th to September 15th.

Students in grades PK-4 who have requested a device can pick up beginning  Monday, September 14th to September 15th.

All students must have and utilize a device at school and at home. As supplies become available we may encourage our younger students to leave devices at home.

Families who wish to Opt-Out of our 1:1 Initiative and supply their own device, should complete the device request form and select the Opt-Out option at the bottom of the form.

All student devices, school or personal, will be expected to be transported to and from school and should be charged and in good working order to support learning initiatives.

All Families are required to complete the MPS 1:1 Consent Form if they have not already done so. We encourage families topurchase insurance to cover any repair costs that may be incurred on school owned devices traveling between school and home.  Visit the payment portal for more information. Please note that anyone receiving free or reduced lunch will receive one year of insurance free with the device deployment. There is no application process for families on F&R.
